The Lac Cardinal Regional Pioneer Village Museum is located in the Municipal District of Peace No. 135, adjacent to Queen Elizabeth Provincial Park. The Pioneer Village allows guests to see what life was like in the 1920s to 1940s. Buildings include four furnished houses, bakery, municipal office, church, community hall, school, blacksmith, general store, fire hall, carpenter shop and a library. A replica train station serves as the office and gift shop. The museum’s farm site includes a barn, farm equipment display and road building equipment.
On the second Saturday of each August, the Museum holds it annual Pioneer Day celebration, beginning at 8:30 am. On this day, activities include pancake breakfast, beef on a bun, pie sales, operation of the saw mill, shingle mill, planer, threshing machine, a blacksmith demonstration, butter churning, musical entertainment, horse and wagon rides and a parade.
The Museum offers tours to schools and other groups by pre-arrangement. Drop-in and self-guided tours are available to smaller groups on days that the Museum is open.
